ZADSR32xDPDT and expanding the amount of relays

I have a ZADSR32xDPDT and a ZADSR16xDPDT and i need to use the ribbon cable to expand the amount of relays so i can have 48 total relays. Do i remove the pluggable USB com board? or do i leave it plugged in? My plan is to use the 32 as the primary and the ribbon cable will go to the 16 as the secondary relay board.

Hi,

Both the ZADSR32xDPDTPROXR and the ZADSR16xDPDTPROXR are master controllers and one cannot be used to control the other. The expansion ports are designed to expand relay control through XR series boards: https://store.ncd.io/?fwp_main_facet=all&fwp_product_type=relay-controllers&fwp_series=proxr-expansion-devices

You would need to connect these ProXR boards to an XR board to expand the number of relays controllable through a single communication interface.

I understand. I will look for the 16 relay version of the XR. So once the XR is connected to the Master controller then I’ll have control of all relays via the master controller? All i have to do is connect the ribbon cable?

Yes, that’s correct. Once an XR board is connected using the XR cable that’s included with the XR boards the relay controller will act as if it has extra relays onboard. i.e. if you have a 32 channel board and connect a 16 channel XR board the relay will act as a 48 channel board with 6 total banks of relays.

Got it! That’s great, thanks for your help.
