Xbee Module Configuration

Greetings,

I’m trying to confirm whether NCD configures XBee radios prior to shipping, or if they’re shipped “as received” from Digi.

I received a batch where the radio config shows Encryption Enabled. Historically, the XBee modules I’ve received were Encryption Disabled out of the box, so I’m trying to determine whether:

  1. NCD intentionally enables encryption (or applies a standard config), or
  2. this was a Digi factory/batch/firmware variation.

Can you confirm whether you modify any XBee settings (and if so, which ones), specifically around encryption/security?

Appreciate the clarification.

Most of our Digi Radios are installed in our Enterprise series sensors. For that use case they do enable encryption, baud rate, and depending on the device sleep mode. It sounds like that is the case for the modules you received.

How did you order the wireless modules(individually from us)?
What is your use case with the modules? Installing in devices we manufacture or into your own devices?

We order through a distributor, I believe they are called Relay Pros.

We used the modules in devices NCD manufactures(900HP-S3B Long Range Wireless Mesh Modem with USB Interface). On the back of the device it shows IC: 1846A-XB900HP

Yes, if you ordered them in USB modems then they will have our Enterprise profile which is:
Baud Rate: 115200
API: Enabled without escapes
Encryption: Enabled
