Wireless Vibration & Temperature Sensor Operation

Bhaskar,

The new sensor appears to be sending packets, but the packets with the exception of temperature, continue to have “0” for all of the values.

To make sure we are on the same page, i am resetting the unit by running the magnet across the top edge of the sensor which causes the white LEDs to flash a couple of times.

Bhaskar,

FYI, I have a debug node setup at the sensor to see if any data is being transmitted. No value is being transmitted. Furthermore, no low or high band filters have been set on Active. Pease advise. Thanks.

is it installed on a vibration machine ?
can you send picture of it ?
You dont need to reset to get data, if will send automatically based on the set interval and setting.

Bhaskar,

We had the unit installed on a running electric. motor to see if we can capture any data to compare it with our other vibration instruments.

f the motor is running while the sensor is sampling, there’s absolutely no reason it shouldn’t capture vibration. The payload doesn’t indicate any errors either.

Also, the sensor was shipped in Mode 3 (Smart Mode)—did you change this setting?

Keep in mind:

  • FLY packets are only sent from the Wireless Gateway Node, and the flow you shared doesn’t show any debug output from that node.
  • You’re currently not setting the deadband value—this should be set to 0 to avoid filtering out low-level signals.
  • It’s unclear why the RPM field is being disabled. That field should remain enabled.

To summarize:

  • Set mode to 3
  • Set deadband to 0
  • Make sure the RPM field is enabled
  • Verify you are debugging from the Wireless Gateway Node

Bhaskar,

I agree, we should be seeing data but we are not:

  • we did not change the smart setting.
  • rpm was enabled (not sure why you are seeing disabled).
  • Will activate the deadband and set value to zero. FYI, we had tried that before, but will do it again.
  • Also if you’ve noticed there is no RSSI value.

I will let you know if anything changes.

Also, does anyone know where we can download the sensor scout app?

Bhaskar,

All was carried-out. The same result.

Bhaskar,

I am planning to send the sensor back to you all for troubleshooting and repair. I have completed and submitted the RMA form online. Please send me the RMA number as soon as possible so that we can overnight the item back to you for service. We would appreciate you all resolving the issue with the sensor and returning back to us. as soon as possible. Meanwhile, we will be placing an order for another vibration sensor. Thank you.

Hi Bhaskar,

We have received smart vibration sensors. To make sure we deploy them properly, please send me the exact way to configure the units. Thank you.

Alex,
The products docs are live now

click resources and all product related documents are there. if you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks

Bhaskar,

Thank you for the information. This is very helpful.

Bhaskar,

FYI, the new units are working in good order. Thank you.

As a part of our performance test, we have noticed that when the gateway looses power, the sensors permanently loose connection and would have to be moved close to the gateway and rest to re-establish connection once the gateway comes back on. Is there a way we do not have to go through the rest process?

Travis,

The sensor scout dose not seem to see any of the sensors nor the gateway as described in the on-line manual. Please advise.

Alex,
The sensor is not loosing the communication. if you reboot the gateway and open node red it wont show sensor connected until sensor sends a packet. if you dont do anything as soon as sensor sends data node red will get it and display that its connected.
by default sensor sends data every 30 min and if there is no vibration it will send data every 90min.

@TravisE_NCD_Technica is out this week

Bhaskar,

Noted. Thanks.

Travis,

Any news on how we can get the sensor scout to work with the Wireless Vibration Sensors? Please advise.

Hi Bhaskar,

I would appreciate your feedback on how the sensor calculates velocity and displacement values without a frequency (HZ or RPM) basis. Thanks.

we take time domain data >> integration >>>> velocity >>>> integration >>> Displacement
