Wireless Ethernet Modem PR55-17B as a MODBUS server

Hello,

I have a Wireless Ethernet Modem PR55-17B that we are trying to use in Modbus server mode. Unfortunately, I have not been successful in connecting to the Modbus server and receiving any data. I’m using ModScan32 to view the data from the Modbus server, but the response from the Modbus server is invalid.

Side note: I was able to create a Modbus server in Node-RED, receive sensor data, and provide it to a Modbus client. However, this solution requires running a PC, whereas we want to use the native Modbus server in the Ethernet modem (without Node-RED as a middleman).

Thank you in advance for your response.

this modem does not support modbus. this feature is still under dev.

Thank you for this information.

Can you please confirm, if we bought this product instead: Enterprise IIoT Gateway - WiFi and Ethernet (ncd.io), that we should be able to receive the sensor data and run the Modbus server in the NODE-Red environment in this “box”?

Thank you

Hi @janpevny Sure, with The Enterprise IIoT Gateway Lite you could obtain the NCD Sensor data and use a third-party Node-RED Modbus TCP library to expose the NCD sensor data over Modbus-TCP.
