What does a pulse timer do?

I understand what a duration timer is and how to use it, but I am not clear what a pulse timer does with respect to a relay? Is there documentation somewhere that explains the difference, or can you briefly enlighten me.

Thanks!

Hi,

A pulse timer is a timer which runs, then when the desired time expires the desired relay pulses on for about 1/4 second. This is commonly used in “dead man switch” applications. Basically software would send the pulse timer command every few seconds and as long as software is able to communicate with the board then the timer resets so it never expires and the relay never pulses.

If this does not make sense or you have any other questions please let me know.

Thank you,
