Production counter connected to photoelectric sensor

Hello,

I need to install product counters on several conveyors in a pharmaceutical plant.

For this I thought I’d use the “IoT Long Range Wireless Production Counter Transmitter” available here:

connected to a photoelectric transmitter and receiver
https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/sensors_-z-_encoders/photoelectric_sensors/through-beam/qmihd-0n-0f

These photoelectrics sensors are NPN type, 3 wires, with an operating voltage of 10-30 VDC.

Here’s the wiring diagram:

Do you think that under these conditions I could use the “production counter” to send the number of units counted by the photoelectric sensor every minute? Note that the module will have to read the passage of an item every 200ms. Under these conditions, how long could the batteries last?

Thanks

For your application I would recommend our Machine Uptime monitoring sensor here:

I would recommend purchasing it with the optional M12 PG7 connector which is where your photo eye sensor will connect.

The Photo Eye sensor will require constant power and will not be suitable for battery power. You will supply 12VDC to the UpTime monitor sensor which will in turn power the Photo Eye sensor. Wiring documentation for connecting your Photo Eye sensor can be found in the Datasheet here:

Please take a look and let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Hi Travis,

This sensor seems really interesting for our use case
Thanks
