Hi,
I have some PLCs that I would like to get the data onto the cloud. They have ethernet TCP/IP connectors that we use to plug the programming computer into. However, I would like to get it pulled directly to the cloud through one of the wireless devices. I have the RS 485 devices, could i use these with a converter?
Hello @danempiric Which protocols does your PLC support? Does it support Modbus RTU (RS485)?
We have a few different kinds,
Some seimens SImatic Hmi, which the list says ’ PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and Ethernet’ but ethernet does not specify the protocol.
And another chinese brand that just says ethernet.

Hi @danempiric what is the data you want to send to cloud? sensor data?
we are trying to get sensor data as well as setpoint data. i.e. target temp for control and what the present value is.
Hi @danempiric the RS485 can provide the hardware layer of RS-485 communications, but we do not specifically support Profibus/Profinet at this time.
Generally users who wants to integrate with PLC goes with Modbus RTU or MQTT, if are supported by PLC.
Thank you
Hi,
The HMI is a samsung with Profinet and S7 protocol
Hi @danempiric The Enterprise IIoT Gateway would probably be a fit for what you need, you can take a look at this Node-RED library:
We’ve not tested this library with Enterprise IIoT Gateway.
Thank you.
