Motion Control with external stepper driver and motor

I am using the following hardware from you which is working great.

8-CH DPTP Relay board with IoT
Feather to IoT Adapter for Photon 2
MCP23008 Dig I/O

I need to add motion control for one stepper motor. Planning to use an external stepper driver. Do you have any insight on connecting the stepper driver to this NCD hardware?

Is there a physically a clean way to get a digital output off of the IOT relay board to drive the stepper driver.

If not, is there an available digital I/O not being used for the relay board or I2C I can use even if it requires soldering to the board?
