Modem for Connecting Wireless Fusion Relay Board

Hi NCD Team,
What modem do I need to connect to the Fusion Relay Board with the optional Long Range Wireless Industrial Mesh?

I have the Industrial IoT Wireless to USB Modem that can connect to the 4CH 0-10V output module and it works perfectly. I tried but cannot use the same modem to connect to the fusion board and I am wondering why.

I want to use one modem to control 4CH analog output and 8CH relay remotely, what’s the suggestion?

Hi Tony,

This is possible, however it is crossing product categories. Endnode is part of what we call our Enterprise series and Fusion is part of our Industrial relay series. They weren’t really developed to work together in a system.

However, as I said this is possible.

It sounds like you already have the Fusion relay controller. Is that true? If so can you tell me the online order number from when you purchased it so I can see what wireless module you purchased it with?

Hi Travis,
The Fusion Relay and the 4CH 0-10V output were purchased at Order#633520.
The wireless modules were purchased separately at Order#644126.

Hi Tony,

The good news is the modules purchased on 644126 are the correct ones. You will be able to install one of those in the Fusion relay board and send commands to it from the USB modem. However the module in the USB modem has encryption enabled and the modules you received in order 644126 do not. So that needs to be enabled.

Here is what you need to do.

Download and install X-CTU from Digi here:

This software allows you to configure settings in the wireless module.

Open the USB modem, remove the module and sit it to the side.

Now install one of those new modules in the USB modem.

Open X-CTU and connect to the USB modem. It should load the settings out of the module. If you are prompted press the RST button in the USB modem.

Scroll through the settings and ensure Baud Rate is set to 115200, API mode is disabled, Encryption is enabled, encryption key is set to 55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA. Save those settings to the module.

Remove the module from the modem and install it in the Fusion relay board.

Put the original module back in the USB modem.

Now the USB modem should be able to communicate with the Fusion relay board.
