Machine Uptime Sensor Data

Hello,

I just bought my first NCD product and I am sifting through the documentation on how to set it up and get data. I did figure out how to get the modem and sensor to communicat in NodeRed, all my data is 0s. I want to be able to use the device to determine if a machine is running using the accelerometer but when i shake the device, I don’t get any readings. Have I missed configuring a setting somewhere?

thanks for any help, I am new to the IoT tech world.

Hi @danielle.l, First, you need to ensure the probe wiring is correctly set for the ‘Accelerometer + Magnetometer Sensor’ configuration. Since this device supports different inputs to calculate machine cycles and uptime, the internal cabling between the M12 connector and the respective connector on the PCB must be routed correctly based on your chosen probe configuration.

The images below show the correct wiring configuration example for the Accelerometer + Magnetometer:

You will need to open the white box by loosening the four screws to verify this internal wiring.

By default, the Accelerometer input is enabled. You can configure the Accelerometer Threshold using Node-RED. This threshold is the limit that determines if the vibration value is high enough to be registered as a trigger signal for calculating machine cycles and uptime. The default value is 10 (which corresponds to 10 x 32 = 320 mg).

Additionally, you can find the Datasheet and User Manual under resources tab on product web page: https://store.ncd.io/product/iot-long-range-wireless-machine-uptime-monitoring-sensor/

Please take a look at this and share your results.
Thanks,

Thanks Eduardo. I think that I must have mistakenly not purchased the magnetometer acceleration probe. Can I purchase it after the fact?

Another question, do you know what the intended use of the pigtail M12 cable is? I can’t seem to find any information in the resources.

Hi @danielle.l sure, you can purchase here: https://store.ncd.io/product/accelerometer-magneto-probe/

You can find more information about the M12 cable under Probe Configuration and Wiring section on the datasheet: Machine Up Time Monitor Datasheet - NCD.io

Thank you,
Eduardo M

Thanks Eduardo.

Is the purpose for the pigtail to connect any other external sensors to it for processing?

One more thing, I noticed that my sensor does not have the connector i boxed here in black. both M12 inputs have only a single connector on the right side. Am I missing something or will the accelerometer/magnetometer still work despite not being able to connect both jumpers to the single input.

thank you,
Danielle

Hi @danielle.l Apologies for the misunderstanding, unfortunately, it appears you selected the incorrect configuration during the purchase process. The hardware is built specifically based on the selected probe type. Since you did not select the Magnetometer Acceleration probe version, your device does not include the correct port.

You will need to process a return and exchange. You can fill out an RMA request here: Log In ‹ NCD.io — WordPress to switch your device for the correct

Thank you,
Eduardo M

Hi @danielle.l We can send you a free replacement. No RMA is necessary.

Thanks so much, Eduardo! Do I need to send any information? Or can you mirror the other order?
