I2c issue with raspberry 3

I have an issue in getting CE current monitor recognized by Raspberry 3

how did you connect current monit to the pi?
do you have one of these adapters

I don’t have any of these adapters, is it possible to connect without the adapter?

the current monitor i2c runs at 5V and Pi runs at 3.3V.
so it wont be possible to use it directly with the Pi without this shield or level shifter.
