Gateway clarification / MQTT support

Hello,
I was planning to purchase https://store.ncd.io/product/smart-industrial-iot-wireless-vibration-temperature-sensor/

My application receives data via MQTT and wanted to confirm the following:

  1. Per documentation, my understanding is that this sensor does NOT natively support MQTT

  2. To send data to my MQTT broker I will need a gateway to connect to the sensor and send data via MQTT to my broker (WiFi Micro Gateway Setup for MQTT - NCD.io)

  3. If I do need a gateway, it is not clear from documentation how many sensors the gateway can support (assuming these sensors are in range).

Hi @harshacss welcome to ncd community sure, let me explain you:

  1. Correct, the Smart Industrial IoT Wireless Vibration Temperature Sensor does not natively support the MQTT protocol. This sensor uses the DigiMesh protocol for industrial applications in order to communicate (send sensor data or receive configuration parameters).
  2. We no longer recommend this MQTT Micro Gateway. To send the NCD sensor data using the MQTT protocol, I would recommend the Enterprise IIoT Gateway Lite. It supports Wi-Fi or Ethernet communication, and you can use Node-RED to send data via MQTT.
  1. The Enterprise IIoT Gateway supports up to 128 NCD devices.
