I want to connect the Enterprise IIoT Gateway WAN ETH0 to a small local network. Everything on the network has a static IP address so I gave ETH0 a static IP address that works with the local subnet. Nothing on the network is DHCP enabled so what do i put under IPV4 gateway and Primary DNS since this is not used. it want let me leave them blank.
Hi,
For the ipv4 Gateway I would recommend a dummy ip address within the same subnet as your other devices (e.g. x.x.x.1) and for the DNS I would leave it blank.
Unfortunately it want let me leave primary DNS blank. I tried a dummy ip address for the ipv4 gateway and primary DNS. Only problem is it causes the gateway to become slow and sometimes unresponsive
What is the subnet you’re using for your unmanaged network?
Gateway Setting for ETH0
IPv4 192.168.0.200/24
IPv4 Gateway 192.168.0.204 (Dummy IP)
IPv4 Primary DNS 192.168.0.205 (Dummy IP)
Ah, its possibly interfering with the default bridge network on the Gateway.
Go into the Configuration Dashboard (Port 80) and on the left go to Network > LAN. On this screen click the edit icon next to LAN1. On the modal that pops up change IPv4 Address, IP Pool Start, and IP Pool End subnets to something like 192.168.10.x like in the attached screenshot. Once done click Submit and then the red checkmark at the top of the page.
Let me know if that stabilizes the Gateway’s connection.
**edit bear in mind that changing this setting will change the default IP address of the Gateway when you directly connect to it over ETH1 or WiFi
That Worked. The connection is stable now. Thanks for your help
