7 input dry contact Sensor Node Question- PR52-18_CC

Hello!

In the site store for the 7 input dry contact Sensor Node- PR52-18_CC it sates this fact in the description:

The IoT Wireless Multi Channel Wet Contact Closure Transmitter can be powered externally or use built in batteries. This device includes a voltage detection switch, automatically switching to batteries if external power is lost. The data packet includes system voltage information. System voltage values of 1,000 or higher indicate external power it working. Please note that leaving the contacts closed for an extended period of time will drain the battery.

I cant seem to figure out how to set this up. What contact closure is this talking about?

If you are using batteries and the seven contact closure inputs are shorted, the device will consume more power. If you are using external power, then there is no need to worry.

Thanks for the reply Bhaskar. So how do I get the device to switch to battery if the external power is interrupted? In my testing to prove out this operation, the Node stops sending information if I remove the external power. I expected the batteries to resume packet transmission at its set intervals.

Yes, I see now. It was removed in 2022 because we had an issue with the switching circuit. Now there is a switch to change the power priority.

Ahhhh ok…so its either battery or ext power based on the switch and it wont transfer correct?

I will need to go with some sort of mini UPS to keep my nodes powered up in case of a power outage.

correct. It’s a manual switch.
