I have a couple of MCP23008s that are used with Particle Electrons. The Electrons occupy all the IC pin sockets on the 23008. I have acquired another 23008 and plan to use a Photon with it for development purposes, but the Photon has fewer pins than an Electron. I assume that the Photon should occupy the sockets closest to the edge of the 23008 board but figured I’d ask the experts here for confirmation before I destroy the thing…
Yes, you are 100% correct it should be plugged in with the USB connect as close to the edge of the board as possible. If you look at the pinout for an electron, and then a Photon, it makes sense. An Electron is really just a stretched Photon pinout wise with some additional IO.
