What is the recommended Node Red Version?

Hi! Just wondering what NCD recommends for Node Red versions on the Robustel EG5120 Gateways? I know they currently ship with version 3.x, but Node Red 4.x is available.

Wondering if it’s worth upgrading for any reason before deploying, or it’s fine as is (in terms of stability and NCD related packages).

Thank you!

Hi @tulanowski, Definitely @jacob may have a better answer for this thread, but I think if your current NCD setup (NCD Sensors / Gateway / Node-RED / NCD Library) is working well and you don’t need any of the new features from Node-RED 4.x, it may be wise to stick with version 3.x. on The Enterprise IIoT Gateway. The NCD Library has been tested in Node-RED v3.x and v4.x without any issues; it is stable.

If you want the latest features or if version 4.x addresses specific issues that apply to your use case or some third-party library requirements, then consider upgrading, but make sure to test it first in a safe environment (You should also consider whether it is necessary to update Node.js.).

If you want to know more about the features of Node-RED version 4.x in general, you can take a look at:

Thank you, agreed re: using 3.x if things are stable and 4.0 features are not needed!
