Too big an induction capacitor?

Hey guys. First post here.
What happens if you put too big an induction suppression capacitor on your load?
For example, if I were to use the 630VDC/250VAC capacitor on a 12VDC 7A pump, or on a 110VAC 2A compressor?
Would it protect components more, or would it result in adverse effects?

If you choose a capacitor with too high a voltage, the price will be unnecessarily higher and the lifespan will be unnecessarily longer. Electrically speaking, there are no adverse effects. Higher voltage capacitors simply live longer and cost more money. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
