Temperature/Humidity Sensor Readings Sticking After Initial Boot

We’re encountering a persistent issue with one of our new temperature and humidity sensors, and we’re hoping you can provide some guidance.

Device: https://store.ncd.io/product/iot-temperature-humidity-sensor/

Upon initial boot and power-up, the sensor appears to function correctly, providing a few accurate readings. However, after these initial readings, the sensor values seem to “get stuck.” It continuously reports the same temperature and humidity values, and these values do not change even when environmental conditions are altered.

We have already tried several troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Resetting the sensor
  • Power cycling the sensor
  • Reseating the batteries
  • Changing the batteries

Unfortunately, none of these actions have resolved the problem. It’s worth noting that all our other NCD.io sensors are operating as expected, which suggests the issue might be isolated to this particular unit.

Has anyone else experienced similar behaviour, or does anyone have suggestions for further troubleshooting? We would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

are you seeing this unit with just this one unit ?

yes only 1!

All others working great

Same edge computer, flow, etc

what happens when you swap probe between good and bad unit ?

Hey, we haven’t tried that, and won’t be able to for now. We did make sure the probe was connected properly.

We removed the sensor from the client’s facility, and won’t have the time to test again with other sensors.

We will do an RMA if that is possible.

Please send it back.
I was hoping we could figure out whether it’s a probe or transmitter issue—then we could’ve just sent a replacement and avoided the whole RMA process.

Hi Bhaskar, we will see if we can try this (or see if there is an issue with the sensor probe) before we do an RMA.

FYI, the sensor appears to start correctly, and after 1-5 readings, gets stuck.

We will let you know if this is resolved, or if we send it. As always thanks for your help!
