Do I need an add-on board to send push notifications in the form of email, SMS, etc.?
Fusion controllers are capable of sending a series of bytes out the communications port when the push notification features are enabled. In order to do anything with these push notifications, you will need some software of some kind. We do not have a dedicated module that is capable of sending emails or SMS text messages, but we do offer modules that are capable of communicating to computers, which are capable of sending emails and SMS messages. Keep in mind, sending an email or a SMS requires a mail server at the very minimum, it is not practical to put that into a module as there is much configuration required for a mail server of any kind. I believe N-Button software has the ability to generate emails from our controllers, but you may need to contact SerialPortTool.com to find out for sure. Hope this helps.
