endNode Publish Message on Threashold

I’m wondering if the endNode can be configured to publish a message on a set threshold. For instance, if the input is connected to a push button, endNode would publish a message wirelessly (with XBee e.g.) when the the button is triggered rather than checking the status of the button repeatedly.
