3 Channel Current not being detected by modem

Hi! I am trying to set up a 3 Channel Current Monitor (PR55-26C) for usage.
I am using the NCD wireless USB modem (PR55-17A) to receive the data.

I have another sensor set up (Predictive Maintenance Sensor) that is working and sending sensor data to the modem. However, the 3 channel current monitor seems to be sending nothing.

I have confirmed the sensor has power as the LED responds to pressing the CFG button. I’ve placed them very close to eachother as well. Is it possible the sensor is working but the interval is very high?

Thanks.

If you press and release the RST button inside the sensor it will send a message immediately.

If you do not receive a transmission from the sensor then you may want to confirm it isn’t an issue with the Network ID set in the sensor.

If you double click the Three Phase Current sensor node you will find its configuration. Make sure the network ID entered there matches the Main Gateway node Network ID and the Auto Config box is checked. Then press the blue square to the left of the Main Gateway Node to put it into configuration mode. Then press and release the RST button inside the sensor, immediately press and hold the CFG button for 8 seconds, then release the CFG button. You should see the sensor go into configuration mode and get configured by the flow. Now press the blue square by the Main Gateway again, then press the RST button inside the sensor again to reset it.

Let us know what you find.

Thank you,
Travis Elliott

Hi Travis,

I tried the steps above and they had not seemed to work. Setting the Network ID of the Gateway Device and the Three Phase Current sensor nodes did not seem to remedy the issue. When pressing RST then CFG for 8 seconds, no status update appears. It is as if the sensor itself is not connecting to the modem. I additionally disabled Wait for Network Formation, but it did not seem to accomplish much. Changing the Node ID did not seem to help either.

Is it possible to check the connectivity of the Three Phase Sensor?

Hi @deltatime Could you please export and attach your Node-RED flow here? To do this, navigate to the main menu (three vertical lines located at the top-right corner), select the “Export” option, ensure “Current Flow” is selected at the top, and then click the “Download” button.

Additionally could you try a factory reset, I share you the procedure:

  1. Press and release the RESET button
  2. Immediately press and hold the CONFIGURATION button
  3. Hold the CONFIGURATION button for about 20 seconds
  4. Release CONFIGURATION button
  5. Wait for 3 seconds
  6. Press and release the RESET button

Be sure your Wireless Gateway (Main Gateway) node is in Ready status.

Please try this.

Hi Eduardo,

The factory reset procedure did not seem to work for me. Not seeing a status appear.
Additionally, here is the flow:
flows.json (26.6 KB)

Thank you for your time.

Hi @deltatime Thank you for sharing the flow. I’ve reviewed it, and it appears that the sensor transmitted data at some point, as its MAC address is listed in the Wireless Device node.

Could you confirm whether the antenna is properly connected to both the sensor and the modem? Additionally, would you mind sharing a photo of the sensor?

Thanks,
Eduardo M.

Hello, here are the sensor pictures. I believe the sensor and modem both have their antennae connected correctly.

Hi @deltatime Thank you for sharing the pictures and feedback. Could you please perform a factory reset again? This time, before initiating the factory reset procedure, ensure the Wireless Gateway is set to Configuration mode.

I share you the procedure:

  1. Press and release the RESET button
  2. Immediately press and hold the CONFIGURATION button
  3. Hold the CONFIGURATION button for about 20 seconds
  4. Release CONFIGURATION button
  5. Wait for 3 seconds
  6. Press and release the RESET button

After factory reset, you should be able to see sensor messages into Node-RED debug window.

Please try this.
Thank you,
Eduardo M
